A space for boys to be boys
Sometimes I honestly can't believe I have two toddler boys and I somehow manage to keep us all alive everyday. HA! Well, having boys 1 year apart isn't easy and it's not for everyone - they are a lot to handle. They are wild, loud, rambunctious, and aggressive. They play rough, they wrestle really hard, but they love even harder. They really do love their mommy so much. Sometimes they show it by tackling me but ya know, you get what you get and don't get upset ;)
I wanted to update their bedroom in the new house to reflect more of their developing personalities. In the last home, we really just had the original theme to the nursery going for a few years and it was time to give them more of an updated "big boy" look.
First: they were so easy to put together - I had them done in about 20 minutes! Second, they go with any and every style. And third: they are well made and sturdy. I love the little details on the corners and the white is a nice soft bright white. Oh and the price! Hello! Under $300 for each bed - that is a score!
I wanted to add a BIG pop of color in here to match my wild and free spirited little boys. I chose this vintage surf shop mural from Milton & King to be the main attraction and it did not disappoint. It is bold, loud and boyish- just like my boys.
In the boys previous rooms, we had Beddys zip up bedding in Modern Gray. Beddys is a dream as a mom because it means their beds are always easy to wash and easy to make! I wanted to brighten it up a bit and I decided on one of their newest prints: Sketched! I love this soft gray color and I think the slight print adds a fun new element to their beds. The boys are now old enough to make their own beds now and the large zipper makes it easy on growing hands!
One of the things we love about this room is this extra cozy rug. We chose a rug from Grandin Road because we love their selection and quality. They have so many to choose from and I love shopping there because I always know I will get great service.
I wanted to share another side of the room with you and you can see we still have our beloved lockers. Are you on the hunt for old lockers? Try going to your city salvage markets. They had tons! We found these for $75 and just love them. They add a ton of character and they are also great for toy storage!
We also added these adorable book slings to the room from Blue House Joys. I love that you can customize the look of them and they hold quite a good amount of books!
For some finishing touches, I received these beautiful decor accessories from Land of Nod. We chose a basket hamper to hide all the dirty clothes and if you have boys, you know there is a lot that! We also got these adorable curtain rod finials and a vintage fire truck that just makes the boys light up!
Im super happy with how the room came together. There are many special little details that represent the boys and their personalities. I love the old feel mixed with some new modern pieces and as a whole, this room has such a great feel. Please feel free to send me your questions and of course, visit on instagram any time!
