There are two different types of people in this world: those who decorate for Christmas after Thanksgiving and those who already start blasting Mariah Carey's 1994 Christmas album the morning after Halloween. Can you take a wild guess where I fit in?
"I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need...."
Too much? Ok, I will stop because my 2 year old is now plugging his ears. But in all seriousness, whatever date is the right date for you and your family to put up the tree is fine by me. I hope that by sharing my love for Christmas decor with you today (albeit before Thanksgiving), I can inspire you in some shape or form and maybe we can pretend to curl up on my couch with a cup of hot chocolate together and gab about our favorite Christmas traditions!
So come on in and take a peek at what's going on over here.
I've had the pleasure of partnering with World Market this year to bring you lots of Christmas inspiration. You know me and World Market. We go together like Christmas and glitter! So let's begin! Let's start with the tree!
Believe it or not, this is my first styled tree. I mean ever. I grew up having a styled tree but that was all my mother's beautiful handiwork. When I got married, had kids of my own, and began our own family traditions around the holidays, I started a tradition of buying glass ornaments (mixed and matched) that held a special meaning or memory. We've got everything from a pink and white unicorn to a green dinosaur. Nothing has changed. We just decided to have two trees this year and kept those ornaments in the play area and did a styled tree in our living room. One of my favorite places to shop for ornaments is World Market because you can find all sorts of beautiful ornaments for styled trees and also the glass ornaments that we collect each year to add to our memory-fille, vibrant, and oh-so-stuffed 4 foot tree. Remind me next year to buy a bigger tree ;).
Here, you can also get a glimpse of that AH-mazing red bug cookie jar from World Market. You'll see why it is so special to me a little later and keep your eyes open for more red bugs in this post!
I picked up a few new ornaments this year like these insanely beautiful mirrored stars at World Market along with some gold reindeer, bottle brush trees and also some bell and pinecone ornaments to use in our styled tree. I placed the white World Market bottle brush trees on old vintage cars that we bought from Amazon a few years back with some fishing line.
You can see a close up of the bell and bottle brush trees here:
Here you can see a close up of the World Market pinecones with glittery tips that we used throughout the tree.
For the top of the tree, I found this glitzy stag head at World Market and he's just perfectly positioned to peer down on us and watch all the Christmas magic happen.
I used one of the stars as the center ornament of the mantel as you can see here:
The glass ornaments reflect the twinkling lights perfectly and I especially love them on the mantel.
So let's talk about that mantel, right!? Remember me mentioning my mother's handiwork? Well, I called in support for this one and as I worked on the tree, she decorated the mantel. Don't you love moms?
We used micro LED string lights from World Market to really make it pop. These are THE BEST! They are battery operated so you can practically use them anywhere and they come with a timer so they won't drain your batteries all night when you forget to turn them off- not that I ever fall asleep on the couch watching netflix with all my christmas lights on? Me? Never! ;)
These LED lights are super delicate but very bright. We used them on the mantel and the live garland hanging from the ceiling. You can also see we used the jingle bells garland from World Market because bells at Christmas time make me so happy. It takes me back to being a kid and listening for the bells on Santa's sleigh on Christas Eve. Maybe it was a figment of my imagination or my parents tricky way to make me think he was really there, whatever the case, the sound of bells brings back many happy memories.
This year we added those stunning antique glass candlesticks from World Market with the tapered tree candles for more depth and balance to the mantel. They really give it that special touch it needed.
We used more of the antique glass collection throughout the entire room and placed battery operated World Market candles on them for mess free (and toddler approved) candelight.
The holly sprigs are available at World Market stores and they are a great deal. You can see them above and below in my World Market Everett Foyer Table.
While we're here, lets take a look at this side of the room, shall we?
I've always had a soft spot for plate walls! They are timeless and classic. So when I spotted these reindeer dishes at World Market, my heart kind of melted. It was a little tricky figuring out how to layer them on top of my existing dishes (those just happen to be World Market, too) but we MacGyver-ed it with some ribbon and a little hot glue.
That wood sign from Between You and Me just sits perfectly between the dishes and above the TV.
Wait, did I just say TV? In a home decor blog? Isn't that a sin? Kidding aside, I thought about taking our TV out of this room for the sake of decor, people! But I just couldn't sacrifice late night Christmas movies by the tree with the fire on. So we worked around it and made it pretty. I used the white glitter trees from World Market and one more antique glass candlestick for good measure.
If you're anything like me and a little nosy, you might be wondering what that image on the TV is. Those are my babies. In our 1968 red bug that belonged to my grandpa. This is our Christmas card photo this year and possibly for the rest of our lives because it melts my momma-heart into a big puddle everytime I look at it.
So here we are and we hope you love our little home. I will leave you with a few more images and a full list of links to the World Market goodies I used.
We wish you a very merry and love filled Christmas! Watch for more home tours and Christmas posts to come ;)
